Kidney

"The Minister of Power"  The kidney is the bodies most important reservoir of essential energy.  Original qi is stored in the kidney.  In Chinese the kidney system also includes the adrenal glands and the reporductive systems.  The kidneys are susceptible to excessive stress and sexual abuse.  The kidney nourishes the bone marrow, which in Chinese includes the brain and spinal column.  Weak kidney will show up as anemia or weak blood, and many mental problems.  The kidney's vitality is reflected in the head and body hair and is associated with the aperature of the ear.  The kidney is also the seat of courage and willpower and any impairment will show as fear and parnoia.

The kidney represents the resevoir of energy in the body.  This energy is released from the kidney during any time of increased stress.  This leaves the kidneys very low on energy after the typical American day.  They are filled with new vitality from 5 to 7 pm.  This is a time to calm down and digest the days events.  Also a good time to eat a light meal.

The kidney and bladder work together to influence the reproductory functions of the external genitalia.  Points on the kidney channel are most commonly used in urogenital disorders, rheumatoid arthritis and mental depression.
