Heart

The heart is considered the king of organs.  The heart commands all the organs and viscera, houses the spirit, and controls emotions.  The Chinese word for heart is (Hsin) also is used for mind.  When the heart  is strong and steady it controls the emotions, but when it is weak the emotions rebel and attach the heart and mind.

Cardiac patients are told not to strain themselves during the midday hour because energy peaks in the heart at this time.  The siesta is a traditional part of mediteranean countries.  This rest allows you to regain mental focus while the heart takes a break.

The activity of the mind are associated with the heart.  The color of the tongue is a good diagnostic for heart conditions.  Conditions treated with points along the heart meridian include heart disorders, insomnia, agitation, speech disturbances, epilepsy and schizophrenia.
