Spleen

"The minister of the Grainary"  In Chinese the spleen energy system includes the pancreas.  These two organs provide the enzymes used to extract nutrients from our foods.  They regulate the quantity and quality of the blood in circulation and coordinate with the kidney to control fluids throughout the body.  The spleen extracts food energy from the stomach and raises it to the lung where it is combined with energy from the air to create true human energy.  Weak limbs and muscle atrophy is a sign of spleen deficiency.  The condition of the spleen is reflected externally by the tone and color of the lips.  The mouth is the spleens external aperture.

The main meal consumed between 7 and 9 am is processed by the spleen from 9 to 11 am.  The spleen sends this purified chi into the internal energy circulation of the organs.

Points on the SP channel are stimulated in disorders of the digestive system, urogenital and skin disorders of edema and ascites.
